David Smyre, Director

David Smyre serves as a Director in Blue Canopy´s Federal Practice. He brings 25 years of management and consulting experience working with federal government customers, primarily supporting elements of the Department of Defense (DoD). He joined Blue Canopy in 2003 to help establish and manage a group focused on the government market.

Mr. Smyre currently manages contracts supporting the Intelligence Community as well as components of the U.S. Special Operations Command. He also serves as the Facility Security Officer for our cleared subsidiary, BC Fed Group.

Prior to joining Blue Canopy, Mr. Smyre spent 20 years working for GRC International, Inc. (later acquired by AT&T Government Solutions). He began his career as an Operations Research analyst and software developer and quickly moved into a position of Technical Lead and then Project Manager. During his tenure at GRC International and AT&T, Mr. Smyre managed several multi-million dollar programs supporting the Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Personnel for the U.S. Army, the Army Materiel Command (AMC), the Navy´s Space and Naval Warfare Agency (SPAWAR), and components of the Special Operations Command (SOCOM). The technical scope on these programs included complex decision support systems with embedded mathematical models, enterprise-wide LAN/WAN management, and enterprise-wide application and database development/sustainment.

Mr. Smyre holds a Bachelors Degree in Mathematics/Computer Science and Economics from UNC-Greensboro and a MBA in Operations Research from the University of Texas at Austin.
